If I can remember far back. This one will be a 2 part anwser to the first question: I remember when I was 2, my dad opened the door of our house on christmas morning and there were presents for my mom, dad, and me. What I got was an NES and with a copy of Super Mario Bros, you couls say that it was that moment that would change my life. What happened to that NES? I don't know. But the first game that I got that I still own was Super Mario 64 with an N64 I got as a christmas gift during elementary school. It was such a cool game, I had a video game all to myself and seeing Mario on tv and in 3D was like a revelation, or magical. I still have SM64 and the N64 in good working order, but I'll never forget those first times.
The last game I've bought reccently was Kid Icarus Uprising on the 3DS and you and I know well that there will never be the last game you'll ever buy lol I'll tell you, I got that game when it launched and I still haven't beaten it, since I kinda got distracted with other games. Right now I'm trying to beat it and I think I'm close to the end. It's a very fun game but it could of used dual analog for the land segements but fun game overall.

I passed on KI:U due to its interface, which is too bad because the prelaunch cartoons that Nintendo released on the 3DS video app had me hyped.  I plan on playing it some day, eventually.
I like your 2-part answer.  After thinking about it, my first one is also a 2-parter, so I think I'll mention one of them now.  When I was really young, I don't know, 3, maybe 4, I inherited this handheld baseball game from someone in my family, I'm not exactly sure who.  It just showed up in my toy box one day.  I don't remember the brand name.  I don't think it was a Tiger handheld, although I did own many of those over the years.  It wasn't grey LCD, it had red lights that acted like dot indicators for various stats like score, outs, etc, and when it was time to bat there was this line of red dots that acted like a moving meter that had to be stopped at the right time to register a hit, walk, HR, etc.  I remember there being a way to time it perfectly and get consecutive doubles constantly.  Man, I haven't thought of that thing in ages!
Thanks for sharing your responses, and good luck to you!

First game I ever owned was Wario Land 3. My cousin gave me his old Gameboy when he got a GBC and decided to include that one. I played it to death for months, loved it
Most recent game purchase was Gravity Rush. Phenomenal game, one of those lightning in a bottle games that does something so creative, yet nails it down almost perfectly (save for the combat, but hey, that's what sequels are for).

I'm a little older (35) than most of the users here, which means I lived a lot of gaming.  To me, games stimulate memories like songs do.  It's more than a memory, it's a feeling, too, if that makes sense.
For instance, I, too, owned a GBC when it came out.  That was an interesting period in the life cycle of the Gameboy.  Pokémon was still fairly new, and it was a sensational hit.  It completely revived the Gameboy market.  There were also quirky add-ons like the Gameboy camera and printer.  An interesting time indeed.
      Good luck to you

    1.  I remember going into Toys R Us with some birthday money and picking out Life Force on the NES because it had a cool cover.  Crazy that we would ever do that.
    2. Dragon Quest IX for the DS 2 days ago.  Never played one before and the Japanese love it.  Why not give it a whirl?

It was a lot of fun for its time.  I thinks it's the first turn-based RPG I ever played.

I'm enjoying 9 so far.  I would love to see how the multiplayer was.  If only I could convince one of my friends to buy it.

The first game I ever owned was E.T on the Atari. I was about 3 or so when I first got that game and my parents gave it to me. I also had other games at the same time that they gave it to me, but E.T is the only one i remember.
My most recent game purchased would be Ys Origins for the PC.

are neck and neck in the race for most sequels!
I really dig these answers.  The contrast between first and last is striking, in a good way.  Neat stuff!  Good luck to you all!

I remember playing games like centipede and space invaders, but I didn't really own those they belonged to my brother. The first game I owned was Mario Bros./ Duck Hunt. That game was a blast. My most recent purchase is Mass Effect 3.

The first game that I ever bought myself was Mission Impossible on the N64. I loved the movies and I was a kid then, but everyone around me told me it was going to suck. Sure enough, it came out to mixed reviews, but I still played it day and night. Their were bugs galore, terrible gameplay, and just an overly unfair difficulty, but I loved it.
The most recent game I bought was Max Payne 3 and I kind of regret it. It was a great game (read my review, I was very positive) but it wasn't worth $60. I wish I would have picked it up for $20 - $30 down the road sometime. I ended up trading it in on amazon. Great game, just not a lot for the package.

I don't remember the name of it, but the first videogame I ever owned was a handheld racing game my parents bought me when I was four years-old. Not unlike many a standalone Tiger handhelds that were being heavily marketed in the late 80s - early 90s. Pretty sure I'd kept it in a closet in my basement up until very recently.
My most recent purchase? Gosh, I've really slowed down my gaming in the last few years. Believe it was actually three pre-owned games that I bought just for the sake of having them: Metroid: Other MExciteBots and Mega Man Anniversary Collection for the PS2.
